Really…Looking for Work?
Recently, while working from home it occurred to me that trying to look for work while at home could be a major distraction. So if you are in this situation, you are learning to deal with each distraction accordingly.
Let’s assume that until you are again working in a location away from home, your only work for now is to find work. Now your only work requires a full day – at least 7 hours daily – devoted only to activities that are directly connected to your search.
To make your current work hours more productive, consider the following suggestions. Do not make up the bed. Do not clean your living space. Do not do the laundry. Do not do the pile of dishes. Do not turn on the television. Do not telephone, text, instant message, or chat with anyone not connected to your search for work. Do not start dinner. Do not get into your car to go anywhere except to an interview. These are activities that you should address before or after your current work hours.
Now you may have other activities that drain the minutes out of your day. Go ahead and drop me a line. But if some one complains about your lack of attention to the chores at home, remember your only work for now is to find work.
